Japan Extends Condolences on Prince Norodom Ranariddh’s Death

PHNOM PENH:​ The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Cambodia has issued a statement extending its condolences over the death of Prince Norodom Ranariddh. The King’s half-brother has succumbed to his illness in France on Sunday morning at the age of 77.

The Japanese government’s letter says, ““On the passing of His Royal Highness Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Ranariddh, President of Supreme Privy Council of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Government of Japan extends sincere condolences to His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia, Royal Families, Royal Government and the people of the Kingdom of Cambodia.”

The government has stated that Prince Ranariddh promoted the peace and recovery of Cambodia while cooperating with Japan and advanced people-to-people exchanges of governments and parliaments between Japan and Cambodia, underlined the same source.

It says, "The Government of Japan mourns the grievous loss, and offers a prayer for the repose of the soul of H.R.H. Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Ranariddh.”
