PHNOM PENH: The Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia has collaborated with the Asian Development Bank through the ASEAN Bond Market Initiative with support from the Government of Japan Climate Investment Facilitation Fund and the Poverty Alleviation Fund. And the Regional Cooperation of the People's Republic of China in hosting a virtual workshop on the development of the emerging East Asia sustainable bond market on Tuesday.
The workshop was chaired by the Royal Government Delegate in charge of the Director General of the Securities Regulator of Cambodia Sou Socheat, Senior Economist of the Asian Development Bank Shu Tian and Senior Financial Sector of the Asian Development Bank Expert Kosintr Puong Sophol.
The workshop aims to raise awareness of sustainable finance as well as build the capacity of securities issuers, financial advisers, underwriters and other market participants and to explain the process of green card issuance.
The workshop program is organized into 3 sessions, including: Session 1. Issuance of Sustainability Bonds, focusing on the case study of Green Bond Issuance, Part 2. Green Certificate Certification and Green Certificate Examination and Evaluation by Independent Assessors and 3rd Session, the discussions focus on ecosystems, regulations and practices related to policies for the development of the sustainable bond market.
At the same time, a handbook on green card issuance for Cambodia was official launched with the approval of the Minister of Economy and Finance and Chairman of the Non-Banking Financial Services Authority Aun Pornmoniroth, This handbook has been developed in collaboration with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Cambodia and ADB with technical assistance from ABMI.
