Phnom Penh Reopens KTVs and Entertainment Clubs

PHNOM PENH: Phnom Penh Capital Administration has announced to reopen the KTV, disco clubs and other entertainment businesses in the capital that were hardly hit by the Covid-19 pandemic. The announcement came on Tuesday, just hours after the administration released an announcement to extend the restriction for a week.

A change in the capital’s decision. Following Monday night’s decision of one week extension of the restriction, Phnom Penh Capital Administration has announced that it has decided to reopen the high-risk businesses starting on Tuesday.

The announcement says “Location owners or business owners of karaoke, bars and discos need to be assigned staff in front of the entrance to inspect the vaccination card in accordance with the instructions of the Phnom Penh Capital Administration and must always adhere to the "3 protection measures"

The business should also be in strict accordance with the standard operating procedures set by the Ministry of Tourism, guidelines of relevant ministries and institutions and strict health safety measures the temperature, clean and spray disinfectant.”

Phnom Penh Administration says that if any owners or management of the high-risk businesses not implemented the SOPs, they will be subject to administrative sanctions and legal sanctions, including public disclosure of offenders in accordance with the law on measures to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and other serious and dangerous infectious diseases and legal regulations.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration has declared, on Monday night, that KTVs and Entertainment Clubs are still considered high-risk business, and their closure should be extended for another week. However, this Tuesday morning, the Royal Government has stick with the Prime Minister’s promise, requesting all KTV and Club owners to wait for his approval on November 30. Now, they are finally able to receive costumers looking to enjoy a night of karaoke or dance.
