PM Hun Sen Praises German Chancellor's Contribution in Boosting EU-Asia Ties

PHNOM PENH: The Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Chairman of the 13th Asia-Europe Summit Hun Sen has praised the German Chancellor Angela Merkel for attending the meeting and for being a key figure in strengthening EU-Asia relations from the beginning.

 The PM has stated at the closing ceremony of the first session of the Asia-Europe Summit yesterday that they recognized the effort and hard work of Ms. Merkel to strengthen the situation in Europe as well as strengthen relations between Europe and Asia. And in behalf of the member nations of ASEM, he has expressed his deep gratitude to the German Chancellor.

Angela Merkel is the first woman to hold the post of German chancellor. She has held this position since 2005 and is considered one of the most influential people in Europe and the world. She has attended many Asia-Europe Summits from the 7th to the 13th.

The 13th Asia-Europe Summit is set up from 25 to 26 November 2021 with the participation of leaders of 51 countries in Asia-Europe and regional organizations under the leadership and organization of the Kingdom. Cambodia, and the leaders of the five major countries in the meeting were Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Emmanuel Macron, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
