Diplomatic Ties Between Cambodia and Russia Accelerating

PHNOM PENH: Admiral Vitaly Luchshev’s expression of confidence was made on the occasion that the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, Lt. Gen. Ith Sarath, allowed him alongside the new Deputy Attaché, Colonel Sergei Shumilin to join the Federal Embassy, and has paid a courtesy call on a joint diplomatic mission in the Kingdom of Cambodia on Thursday morning.

During the courtesy call, Rear Admiral Vitaly Luchshev has expressed his gratitude to General Ith Sarath and the leadership of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) for allowing the two of them to meet and discuss their work.

Admiral Lushshev has emphasized that in the past, he has completed his diplomatic mission in Cambodia and enjoyed warm cooperation in the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) as well as with the Cambodian people throughout the country, with respect, love. He also shared his pride in the successful completion of many missions in Cambodia, especially with all the RCAF partner units.

In acknowledgment, General Ith Sarath has praised the diplomatic ties between Cambodia and Russia, which over the years have enjoyed good historical and cultural cooperation. Cambodia considers Russia as a good friend for a long time and it is one the countries that has been involved in seeking peace in Cambodia, reaching the Paris Peace Accords and sending Blue Hat troops within the framework of the United Nations. It is also responsible in organizing the election process in Cambodia in 1991 to 1993.

General Ith Sarath has also expressed his gratitude to the Government, the Army and the people of the Russian Federation for their continuous support in terms of spirit, material and equipment, especially the training of human resources in the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in all fields. Through this good cooperation, General Ith Sarath has confirmed that in the past, Russia has also brought its naval warships to Cambodia for training, exchange of experiences with the army. In connection with the organization of a joint international training exercise to be held in the Russian Federation next year, General Ith Sarath has requested that the two sides must work together in preparation and submission of a letter to the Cambodian Ministry of National Defense for the Armed Forces. The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) responded in time to the request of the Russian Federation Army to allow the Cambodian Army to participate in this international military exercise in Russia next year.

In addition, General Ith Sarath believes that in the future, the two armies of Cambodia and Russia will continue to cooperate with each other to further strengthen the bonds of solidarity, friendship and cooperation between the two governments.
