MLVT Launches Online Training

PHNOM PENH: The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has launched an online vocational training on Wednesday. The National Technical and Vocational Education and Training E-Learning platform is aimed to facilitate a broader and easier technical education. The Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labor and Training, Pech Sophoan, says that the it is an exciting new step in technical and vocational training in Cambodia.

The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training has announced that as of Tuesday, there are already 57 vocational education institutions under the Ministry using the National Technical and Vocational Education and Training E-Learning system with a total of 31,529 students.

Permanent Secretary of State of the Ministry of Labor and Training, Pech Sophoan saysCambodia is looking to expand its technical and vocational training online. The government is aiming to develop it into online competency testing as well as developing management systems for technical and vocational education institutions. It also aims to set up and develop data centers, and continue to develop institutional integration.

Pech Sophoan says that the National TVET E-Learning Platform is an information technology system that provides a broad-based platform for improved education by watching videos and sourcing educational material through a student's tablet or smartphone, anywhere, anytime.

Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Nadia Ottiger has welcomed the current development of the technical education system of the kingdom, saying that the Swiss Agency for International Development will continue to work with the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training in Skills development in Cambodia.
