WHO Warns People to be Cautious Against Covid-19 Despite Being Fully Vaccinated

PHNOM PENH: The World Health Organization has continued to urge people in the kingdom to keep being vigilant against Covid-19, despite being fully vaccinated. WHO Representative to Cambodia, Dr. Li Ailan stresses that although Cambodia’s rapid vaccination shows success against the virus, people still need to be cautious in their every day life and especially attending gatherings. She has made the statement during the Water Festival in Cambodia, the first and biggest test for the kingdom after it has fully reopened.

The Water Festival holiday has marked the first big test for Cambodia since opening up the country on 1 November. The Minister of Tourism Thong Khon has said that the success of the vaccination program has allowed tourists to safely travel during the three-day holiday. During the holiday, almost one million local and international tourists were reported to have made domestic trips across the country.

With this, WHO Representative to Cambodia Dr. Li Ailan has reiterated the reminder to people that Covid-19 is still existing. She says the Covid-19 pandemic is not over and the virus is invisible. She has reminded people to continue to be responsible and be vigilant in going around.

Dr. Li Ailan has also said that the successful Covid-19 vaccine rollout in Cambodia serves as a great foundation for saving more lives, protecting the health care system while reopening the economy and society safely and sustainably. However, she stresses that it must be paired with public health safety and social measures.
