One Million Travelers During the Three Days of Water Festival

PHNOM PENH: According to the announcement by the Ministry of Tourism, 910,150 citizens traveled during the three-day Water Festival, from November 18 to 20, with almost 900 thousand were national holidaymakers and 10 thousand domestic foreign visitors.

The last day of holiday was the busiest, with 445,262 thousand travelers around the Kingdom. That’s up to 33.76% and 237.28% compared to the second and first days, respectively.

This year the Water Festival celebrations were cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic, following the same measure as last year. However, travels between provinces were still allowed, showing a remarkable increase of tourism business during the holidays.

The top destinations were Phnom Penh, followed by Siem Reap, Preah Sihanoukville, Kampot, Ket, Pursat, Battambang, Kampong Speu, Mondulkiri, Kandal and Ratanakiri.
