PM’s Great Love to His Granddaughter Inspires Samneth Chan to Compose a Song

Phnom Penh: This Friday morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen has posted a photo of him and his 21st granddaughter, who was upset at that time. She looks weepy because she feels a strong sympathy for her grandfather. This scene has motivated the doting grandfather to make an announcement to his FB page that he was looking for a composer to create a song which speaks about, “Tears, But Do Not Cry.”

And Samneth Chan heeded the call and compose a song and the prime minister is delighted in accepting it and has sent the lyrics to “ Samneang Krousar Khmer Band” to sing it.

The hardworking prime minister, who is also a devoted grandfather, has recalled that on Thursday, after he returned home from his duties as the premier, he took his grandchildren for a walk, he was awed why his 21st granddaughter was agitated and sobbing in silence. He is used to see his grandchildren weepy at times or tears are about to fall but can control themselves not to cry. But when she saw his granddaughter weepy, it touched him deeply. He thought of the song and he was curious if Cambodia has already made a song with the title “ Tears But Do Not Cry,” or something about crying in silence. And so the announcement has come down on his FB page.

Only about an hour later, SamNeth Chan, has sent a lyrics and titled it, "Granddaughter Cries in Silence.” In a very positive response, PM Hun Sen has praised the composition and has said that he would send it to Samneang Krousar Khmer Band to try it out.

The Prime Minister Hun Sen, so far has a total of 22 grandchildren, including 12 grandsons and 10 granddaughters. The PM often expressed his great love and devotion to all his grandchildren. He has posted how much he loves them in his FB page and caption it with this : "Love a child a hundredth time, love a grandchild a millionth time.” There is no doubt that grandchildren play a very special role in the premier’s life.
