"Planting Asia-Europe Youth Solidarity Tree" Infront of Angkor Wat

Siem Reap: The Asia-Europe Youth Group held a tree planting ceremony in front of Angkor Wat on Saturday.The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has initiated the symbolical tree-planting as an inter-ministerial working group in collaboration with the Asia-Europe Foundation and supported by the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Tourism, the Ministry of Environment, APSARA Authority and Union of Youth Federations of Cambodia.

 The tree planting ceremony was attended by the President of the Asian Youth Council and President of the Youth Federation of Cambodia,Mr. Hun Many, the Minister of Environment,Mr. Say Sam Al, the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr. Sok Soken and the Governor of Siem Reap , Mr. Tea Seiha and representatives of embassies have also took part in.

Mr. Hun Many says that the trees planted together will be a symbol of unity, patience, stability and dignity, and will be able to connect the young leaders of the two regions to continue the talks about common visions to contribute to the sustainable development of the nations of the two regions. He also added, "the event shows the pride that the people of Cambodia, and especially young people across Asia and Europe, can have this initiative and share responsibility with the ambition to achieve inclusive development. Sustainability is the solution to global environmental problems."

The planting of 53 trees represents two institutions, the ASEAN Secretariat, the European Union and representatives of all 51 countries that are members of the 13th Asia-Europe Summit, which Cambodia will host. The 4th Asia-Europe Foundation Young Leaders Summit will be held online from 22 to 26 November 2021, with the participation of young Cambodians and young people from across the continent of Asia and Europe, under the theme "Sustainable Development in the World after the Covid-19 Crisis.”
