PM Urges Every Citizen to Never Forget the Covid-19 Pandemic, Especially During Cold Season

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has delivered a special voice message for all people in the Kingdom, urging to never forget about the health safety measures necessary to live in the “new normal”, especially when it comes to elders that needs to be constantly careful with the virus. 

Prime Minister Hun Sen has delivered a strong message, saying people can forget Covid-19 but Covid-19 can’t forget them: “It’s a rainy and cold season here in Cambodia. And it’s also a season for any type of disease to spread easily, especially Covid-19. So I would like to urge everyone to take care of themselves, especially their parents or grandparents who are easily catching the disease. So please don’t look down on this virus while you should always follow the health safety measures.”  

In his voice message on November 18, 2021, Prime Minister Hun Sen stated that according to the experience of the Covid-19 pandemic, it is always more contagious when the climate changes into the cold season. The Prime Minister urged the families, Red Cross, authorities, and philanthropists to donate winter coats, blankets to elderly people including  monks, especially the elderly who are helpless so that they can in response to winter as well as winter infections.

“Another thing I would like to ask is the authorities to keep a close look for elderly homeless people or elderly people who live on their own. The authorities should give them help in such ways as giving them a sleeping net and cover in order to make them feel warm in order to face this cold season. I would also like to ask the chief inspector of every Pagoda to always take care of any old people who spend their life living in the pagoda so they can be freely from any disease.” Said the Prime Minister 

At the first day of the water festival, Prime Minister Hun Sen has also reminded all travelers to still be careful with the virus: “And for those who are on their holiday trip to always follow the health safety measures in order to prevent catching Covid-19.”
