Defence Minister Applauds Blue Helmets’ Successful Mission in South Sudan

PHNOM PENH: National Defense Minister Tea Banh has congratulated the repatriation of the 186th Royal Gendarmerie Squadron who returned safely to Cambodia on Tuesday after the completion of their humanitarian mission in the Republic of South Sudan.

He says that this proves that the Cambodian Blue Helmet force has really applied knowledge and skills in the context of new life and solidarity, cooperation, good discipline and courage to perform its role anytime and anywhere in the region and participate in the implementation of measures to prevent Covid-19 virus.

The 186th Royal Gendarmerie Squadron was the ninth brigade with a total force of 73, including 28 women who had returned to Cambodia after completing a long-term humanitarian peacekeeping mission. The division to be rotated is the Royal Squadron of the Royal Gendarmerie No. 739, the 10th Division with a total force of 73 of which, 34 are women. The participation rate of women in this force is 46%, exceeding the UN requirement only 15%.
