CPP Nominates Cheam Yeab to be the National Assembly’s First Vice-President

PHNOM PENH: The Standing Committee of the National Assembly (NA) will have to wait after the Cambodian Water Festival, Bon Om Touk holiday before they can hold a session to review a shuffle of heads. This was relayed by NA spokesperson Leng Peng on Tuesday.

The Chairman of the NA’s Economics, Finance, Banking and Auditing Commission Cheam Yeab was nominated by the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to be the NA’s first vice-president, replacing Nguon Nhel who passed away on 5 November.

Prime Minister Hun Sen has submitted a request on 11 November to National Assembly’s President Heng Samrin for a shuffle of heads of the NA’s Commission. The NA will review the following candidates; Cheam Yeap to be the NA’s first vice president to replace Nguon Nhel. Chheang Vun to be the head of Commission of Economics, Finance, Banking and Auditing, replacing Cheam Yeap. Suos Yara to be head of NA's Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media, replacing Chheang Vun. Nim Chandara to be deputy head of Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media, replacing Sous Yara. Ty Sokun to be secretary of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media, replacing Nim Chandara. And Cheab Sivorn to be member of the Commission on Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media, replacing Ty Sokun.
