Over 60 Illegal Migrant Thais Deported

Banteay Meanchey: Authorities in Banteay Meanchey province have repatriated 67 Thai nationals on Monday. They had been discovered illegally residing in Poipet City. Provincial police forces have received information about the presence of the illegal workers last week prompting them to conduct searches in the province.

Banteay Meanchey Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General Sith Loh, has told EAC News that last Friday, the immigration and police authorities were conducting searches in Poipet resulting to the discovery of the illegal workers. Searches in the area have discovered numerous migrants residing illegally.

Four of them were found staying at Meng Hour Guesthouse in Poipet City. A further 56 people were found in a building in Kilo 4 Village. Others were discovered in various locations including Poly Casino.

 A total of 67 people in total were found, 24 were females and one was severely disabled.

Currently, the 67 Thai nationals have been handed over to the Thais by the Cambodian authorities at the Cambodia-Thailand Friendship Bridge at Poipet International Gate.
