PM Urges for Food Security Improvement

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen calls on all stakeholders to join the Royal Government in implementing action plan to achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals without leaving anyone behind. He has given emphasis on the second goal which is to end hunger and achieve food security improving the nutritional status and promotes sustainable agriculture.

 The Prime Minister made the appeal on Saturday celebrating the 8th National Nutrition Day under the them "Strengthening the Sound System for Sustainable Development ". In line with the celebration, the Prime Minister has set out four priorities to achieve the vision on the food security system 2030, including :

 1. Promoting a healthy diet for all in terms of security, nutrition, food from birth to daily life.

 2. Empowering young people, women and vulnerable people to participate in policy dialogues, promoting the use of digital systems, research and innovation.

 3. Strengthening livelihoods and food systems by continuing to support indigenous communities, youth, women, small farmers and small and medium enterprises in food production and processing to enhance the livelihoods of rural people.

 4. Strengthen governance to improve the food system through coordination and cooperation with all stakeholders at the international, national, sub-national and community levels, as well as strengthen cooperation between the Royal Government and civil society development Private sector, farming community and educational institutions.

Three years ago, the Royal Government launched the Sustainable Development Goals Framework 2016-2030 in response to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as well as building a solid foundation to support the development process. The Kingdom of Cambodia is committed to achieving the vision of 2050, which will bring prosperity, unity, high knowledge, prosperity and a vibrant culture without poverty and food security, with all Cambodians living in harmony.
