PM Pays Tribute to late Nguon Nhel

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen accompanied by Minister of Interior, Sar Kheng, and other senior government officials have paid tribute to the late National Assembly First Vice President, Nguon Nhel.

 Nguon Nhel's remains were laid to rest at the funeral home of O'Andong village, Prek Pra commune, Chbar Ampov district in Phnom Penh.

 After receiving the news of Nguon Nhel's death on Friday, Prime Minister Hun Sen immediately sent a letter of condolence to the family of the deceased, stating that the he was extremely emotional when he heard the news. He also considered the loss of Nguon Nhel as a great loss for the Khmer nation, specially the great loss of a great Khmer political figure who has the full willingness to serve the nation,and the King under all circumstances and actively contributes to the promotion of the values of the law with high respect

Nguon Nhel was born on 22 December 1942 in Baray District, Kampong Thom Province. He was a member of the Standing Committee of the Cambodian People's Party, former Minister of Agriculture, and is currently the First Vice President of the National Assembly of Cambodia. He passed away at 10:36 a.m. on 5 November 2021 at the age of 79.
