PM Donates $5,000 and Two Houses to Kong Seiha's Family

Siem Reap: Prime Minister Hun Sen through the Governor of Siem Reap Province Tea Seiha donated 20 million Riels (about $5,000) and 2 houses to the family of 7-year-old Kong Seiha. The boy lives with his parents in Banteay Srey district’s Thmat Pong village, Siem Reap province.

After the prime minister saw the photos of the barefoot boy, wearing a mask, and school uniform with his vaccination card wrapped in plastic and tied to his shirt circulated on social media, it caught his attention and concern, with the poor boy and with the situation called for making suggestion to the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports along with the capital and provincial governors to allow students to use copies of their Covid-19 vaccination cards instead of carrying the original ones with them to school in order to avoid damaging or losing them.

Kong Seiha, a first-grade student at Chey Primary School in Run Ta Ek commune has a 3-year-old sister from a poor family whose parents are farmers in Svay Leu district. Because they don’t own a farm, they just rent land. In the past, they used to take their children to work in the fields in Svay Leu district because they could not go to school yet, but when the school reopens, they sent their children with their aunts or neighbors next door to help. And for the children to be able to go to school.

The prime minister,as well as many other philanthropists have given help to the socmed boy sensation.Local government is also finding ways to help the boy’s family to find a better job in the village so that all their children can get a better education and a more secure future.
