Banteay Meanchey: Students are very happy after the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports has decided to reopen schools on 1 November. It is an opportunity for them to continue their studies face-to-face. Students and teachers believe it is still the best instructional method where course content and learning material are taught in person. This allows for a live interaction between a learner and an instructor. Learners benefit from a greater level of interaction with their fellow students as well.
The reopening of the school is due to the fact that Covid-19 transmissions in the country dramatically shows a continuous drop for a time being, and the generation of Covid-19 infection has carved out under the care of the head of the Royal Government and its vigorous campaign against the pandemic.
Many students and teachers are not in favor of online education. There are a lot of challenges of online teaching such as learning from home can be lonely, lack of motivation in online learners, technical, difficulties with online teaching tools, aside from those students who don’t have gadgets, families who cannot be able to buy computer or a mobile phone, problems with internet especially students who live in remote areas, time consuming resources, setting and forgetting online learning activities. So with the reopening of the school, students are determined to study harder to get good grades.
The Director of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Banteay Meanchey Province Chhou Bunroeung told EAC News that they made sure that all schools are well organized, the cleanliness of the environment outside and inside of the classroom followed the cleaning and disinfection protocol. School administration will make sure that they are going to follow the guidelines for safe operations.
Mr. Ke Kim Yan has donated various materials such as thermometers, hand-wash materials or equipment needed to perform hand washing and will be available at 412 schools across the province.
In the reopening phase, only 65 percent of all schools were reopened. Another 35 percent of schools will be designated as quarantine centers to receive workers from Thailand, and some due to the flood situation, some schools are not fully operational due to the flood that is not completely receding.
