Nationwide Reopening of Schools at All Levels

PHNOM PENH: Students are now back to school. All schools nationwide have reopened on Monday, following the directives from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport. The reopening covers both public and private institution across the kingdom after eight months of closure.

Due to the February 20 Community Transmission Outbreak, most schools have been closed for eight months. But with Prime Minister’s recommendation to start reopening the educational institutions, the Ministry of Education has evaluated the schools nationwide. There were already secondary levels that already reopened last month from low-risk areas.

On Monday, Prime Minister Hun Sen has announced the full reopening of the country. It also coincides the reopening of the schools nationwide. The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport has reminded all the educational institution to adhere to the safety health measures especially the “3 do’s and 3 don’ts” to avoid further spread of the Covid-19.

Prime Minister Hun Sen says that in case of positive cases detected in schools, there will no longer be closures. The Covid-19 patients will be treated but no more closures that will be implemented.
