EU Delegation Launches Four Projects

Phnom Penh: The European Union Delegation to Cambodia in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries have formally launched the four EU-funded projects on Wednesday. The projects are targeted to support green growth, job creation, social services, and better protection of natural resources for the fishing communities in 10 Tonle Sap Biosphere Reserve and coastal provinces.

The four projects are being implemented by Oxfam, Wildlife Conservation Society, Aide et Action and Save the Children. EU Delegation to Cambodia Head of Cooperation, Bryan Fornari says, “This is an important milestone for COVID recovery in the region, bringing new economic opportunities for over 50,000 households in fishing communities around Tonle Sap Lake and coastal provinces. Our partnership with the Fisheries Administration will make this possible.”

A workshop was also held at the same time on Wednesday with around 320 participants joining from various ministries, provincial authorities, fisheries technical working group, fishing communities, NGOs, EU Member States, and other development partners.

The EU delegation leads the preparation of the development cooperation programmes in the kingdom and manages the implementation of development actions supported by the EU in the country.
