Cambodia to Celebrate 17th Anniversary of the King’s Coronation

PHNOM PENH: The Royal Government has set the 29th October as a public holiday in celebration of King Norodom Sihamoni’s coronation being the head of state. For this year, the holiday falls on Friday. All civil servants, employees or workers from different sectors will enjoy a day off from work to commemorate the king’s coronation.

Cambodia’s king being called “His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni” was coronated on 29 October 2004 following the abdication of the late King-Father Norodom Sihanouk. He was chosen as the successor via election in the Council of the Throne with nine members.

The Kingdom of Cambodia is expecting best wishes for King Sihamoni’s coronation anniversary through TV and radio broadcast, newspapers, magazines and from the general public.
