King Congratulates New Governor-General of New Zealand

Phnom Penh: His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni has written to New Zealand’s newly-inaugurated Governor-General, Cindy Kiro, to extend his “warm congratulations”.

Kiro was sworn in last Thursday as the country’s first Māori woman to hold the post, which is appointed by Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II with her being Queen of New Zealand.

In his letter, His Majesty King Norodom Sihamoni wrote that he was “satisfied that the cordial relations of friendship and cooperation between Cambodia and New Zealand, bilaterally and within ASEAN, have steadily grown, I seize this opportunity to reiterate my gratitude for New Zealand's contribution to the implementation of the Paris Peace Agreements through UNTAC.”

The King’s letter was dated 23 October 2021, the 30th anniversary of the signing of the Paris Peace Agreements.
