Families Affected by Floods Receive Red Cross Donations

Battambang: Dozens of families living in the Koas Kralor district of Battambang have received relief aid from the Cambodian Red Cross. They’ve been dealing with severe flooding for the past few weeks, with the tail-end of the rainy season bringing extremely heavy weather to the kingdom’s northwest.

The Cambodian Red Cross donation campaign was led by the Chairman of the Branch Committee, Kim Sean and his team. Affected families each received 25 kg of rice, 5 liters of pure water, noodles and canned fish. They have also received face masks and sanitizing alcohol for Covid-19 protection, as well as a small cash donation.

During the meeting, Kim Sean brought a message from Bun Rany Hun Sen, the President of the Cambodian Red Cross. Her message is that regardless of race, color or political affiliation, all citizens of Cambodia should enjoy good hygiene, eat well and drink clean water while taking care of their young children. She has advised parents to watch out for their small children, especially with water levels being so high.

Bun Rany Hun Sen has also said the Royal Government is concerned about the floods and other natural disasters, saying these events will become more common due to climate change. She has asked authorities at all levels to monitor and support the needs of the people.
