Four Arrested for Throwing Rocks at Trucks

Battambang: Thmar Koul District Police in Battambang have arrested four young men for throwing rocks at passing trucks. During questioning, they told police that they’d resorted to throwing rocks because of the attitude of the trucks’ owner.

20-year-old La Socheat, 17-year-old Sovann Pich, 16-year-old Chuon Soksan and 19-year-old Chan Sochea are all friends living next to each other in Chroy Sdao Village in Battambag’s Thmor Kol district. They were arrested on Wednesday afternoon, accused of throwing rocks at passing trucks.

Thmor Kol District Police Inspector, Sen Luch, says he has received dozens of complaints in the past few days from the trucks’ owner, who claims his trucks’ windshields have been smashed. It took almost a week for the authorities to find the suspects.

After being arrested and questioned, they allegedly admitted to the crime, saying the acts of vandalism were in response to the truck drivers, who were flashing their headlights directly into the friends’ eyes. The four are currently being held at the Thmor Kol District Police Inspectorate, awaiting their first appearance in court.
