Warning Issued Over Floods in Battambang’s Stung Sangke River

Battambang: The Department of Water Resources and Meteorology of Battambang has issued a warning for people to be careful of possible floods with the water levels of the Stung Sangke river rising to 13.95 meters in the past days.

Authorities have warned citizens to be careful, especially children and the elderly living by the reservoirs of the upper part of Samlot district. As of today, hundreds of homes and infrastructures were damaged, but no casualties have been counted yet.

As a countermeasure for the situation, the Department of Water Resources has opened the water gate of the Battambang Multi-Purpose Dam, in order to reduce the amount of water that fills the reservoir.
