Unvaccinated Urged to Come Get Their Shots

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Commission for Covid-19 Vaccination is urging anyone who missed out on vaccination several months ago to now come forward and get their shots. As the kingdom edges ever closer to a full reopening, the commission says it’s important that as many people as possible get vaccinated to avoid hospitalization from Covid-19, or worse, with the vast majority of Covid-related fatalities having been people who were unvaccinated.

The target group for this final push include those who were initially advised against vaccination, including the elderly, pregnant or breastfeeding women, those who contracted Covid-19 more than four months ago and those with chronic medical conditions that are well-managed.

Vaccinations are available at the sites already open in the country’s capital and provinces. Team members of the Sub-Committee on Covid-19 Vaccination in the Capital-Province Framework are to carry out a census in each commune to determine how many people are still to be vaccinated so that they can be encouraged to do so. The Commission is also appealing to parents, siblings and all children aged 6 years old and older who have not yet been vaccinated to please do so, in order that Cambodia can achieve herd immunity.
