Drunk Driver Charged in Court After Killing Three While Injuring Seven

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh Municipal Court has charged the driver of a car that killed three people in an accident in Trapeang Thleung 1 village, Choam Chao 1 commune in Por Sen Chey district on Saturday night. The suspect identified as Hay Vichetra was believed to be intoxicated with alcohol when the tragic incident happened.

Phnom Penh Municipal Court spokesman, Plang Sophal, says Vichetra has already been charged for "negligent driving, drunk driving, causing injuries and death”. The suspect was driving a Toyota Tundra car. He initially hit a motorcycle at Street 217 leaving the driver with minor injuries. Vichetra tried to escape the scene and drove faster. But instead of escaping, he hit a barbecue cart with people nearby. Three people were killed and seven others were injured. He was arrested the following day facing charges on the crimes committed.
