Cambodia Requests ADB to Keep Promoting Vocational Education and Training

PHNOM PENH: During a videoconference with Country Director for Cambodia, Sunniya Durrani-Jamal, of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Minister of Labor Ith Samheng has requested ADB to continue its support of further boosting the country's Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Ith Samheng has spoken with ADB’s Country Director about the ministry's progress for the implementation of projects supported by ADB, including the TVET, aiming to promote skills and encourage competitiveness. Such projects will contribute to developing industry, jobs, human resources and educational modernization.

In the meeting, Sunniya Durrani-Jamal agreed with the minister's request to keep boosting projects in Cambodia and keep finding support for new projects that can contribute to the development of human resources in Cambodia. She also praised the minister for the decision of reopening all TVET centres, which will put vocational education in the Kingdom back on track.
