Cambodia May Reopen End of 2021

PHNOM PENH: Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Youk Sambath has stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia is considering the reopening of economic activities in all sectors, including the re-admission of tourists after the Covid-19 cases had shown a decline.

During her speech at the ceremony to mark the arrival of 2 million doses of Sinovac vaccine on Thursday morning from China, Sambath says that the Inter-Ministerial Commission has prepared a policy to reopen the country and to see what sectors need to be check and ready to reopen . In addition, the government has prepared the policies and plans to reopen tourism activities and may welcome tourists again , especially vaccinated tourists. She has added that it is ready to be submitted to Prime Minister Hun Sen for review and the decision will probably be announced at the end of this year.

The Ministry of Tourism with the inter-ministerial committee, as well as the standing committee are thoroughly discussing about this matter. The Ministry's strategic policy document is being submitted to the commission where all aspects are being checked to make sure that they will not put the people at risk with Covid-19.
