Cambodian Customs and International Partners Study 2021 Export Activities

Phnom Penh: The Cambodian Customs and International Partners Study 2021 have virtually discussed with the Japan Customs and Tariff Bureau, Japan International Cooperation Agency and the World Customs Organization on Monday to examine the export activities in the kingdom.

Director General of the General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia, Kun Nhim has spoken during the conference emphasizing that the observation for the exportation of goods in 2021 was organized in accordance with the agreement on the World Trade Organization and Cambodia's obligations to meet ASEAN requirements in the study of Trade Transaction Cost.

He has said that the study period for the goods export in 2021 is a tool for measuring the time and find the shortcomings at all stages of the release of goods in Cambodia. He said it will also lay out basic recommendations for relevant actors to complement and continue to improve procedures and further improve the duties of each institution in order to promote greater efficiency in trade facilitation and enhancing Cambodia's competitiveness.

The General Department of Customs and Excise of Cambodia has conducted a study of the customs clearance period in 2013 and in 2019 with both good results. Nhim has added that after the Royal Government has introduced in-depth and sharp reform measures, Cambodia's competitiveness has been enhanced to another level.

The whole workshop set the time to collect data and analyze the results of the study to complete the 2021 export form, which is scheduled to take place in the fourth week of October. A study of Cambodia's past and present export clearance periods has been conducted in accordance with international best practices and in accordance with the guidelines of the World Customs Organization.
