Koh Kong: Koh Kong authorities are processing land issues for those affected by the Union Development Investment Project. On Monday, Deputy Governor of Koh Kong Province, Sok Sothy, attended a meeting to discuss the progress being made. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction and the General Secretariat of the National Authority for Land Dispute Resolution.

There are three categories of people with land issues which need resolving. Firstly, there are currently 247 families living on the Union investment site, whom the Royal Government has resolved to provide each of them with 0.5 hectares of land for housing, three hectares of farmland and compensation of $9,000. There are another 255 families in different villages and communes who government has resolved to provide two hectares of farmland per family. There are also 831 families requesting additional land. Government is proposing to give each family one hectare of farmland. It says those requesting social land concessions will be dealt with later.

On 1 October 2021, the National Land Dispute Resolution Authority and the provincial administration organized a handover ceremony for two categories of land claimants. 177 out of 255 of the affected families attended. At the same time, the National Land Dispute Resolution Authority and the provincial administration will organize a ceremony for the third category (people requesting additional plots) on 14-15 October.
