The Guardian Sends Letter to Cambodia Assuring the Correction of Article Stating Cambodian PM Holds Cypriot Passport
Phnom Penh: British newspaper, the Guardian, has sent a letter to Cambodia assuring that the article stating that Prime Minister Hun Sen is one of the non-European citizens holding a Cypriot passport has already been edited.
In a letter on Monday, the Reader’s Editor of the news outlet, Elisabeth Ribbans says that she received the letter from Cambodia protesting about their report entitled ‘Law firm founded by Cypriot president accused of hiding assets of Russian exile’. The article contains the name of the Cambodian Prime Minister alleged as a holder of Cypriot passport.
Ribbans says in an email, “I can reassure you that the error was notified to me by the Guardian’s own editorial staff yesterday and the article was amended and footnoted accordingly”. She has also included the link where to see the edited article. Ribbans has added that the edited article is scheduled to be listed in their “Corrections and Clarification column online”.
She has concluded her message saying, “The editor regrets the concern caused to Prime Minister Hun Sen but it is hoped the prompt action to rectify this error provides a satisfactory resolution.”
