Cambodia Defeats Guam in the First Leg of AFC Playoff

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s national team, Angkor Warriors has ended the first leg of the AFC Asian Cup 2023 victorious during its playoff early Sunday (Cambodia time). Guam’s Matao was defeated by the Angkor Warriors 1-0 for the final qualification round.

Cambodians were all eyes on the game being broadcasted live at 12:30 midnight. Despite the pressure from the Guam team, the Angkor Warriors managed to find its way to overthrow the Matao in the first leg. Previously, Matao captain, Jason Cunliffe, said that they expect an improved Cambodia team to square off against them in the round which the Cambodian team really achieved.

Bahrain’s Khalifa Sports City Stadium in Manama is hosting the game. The two teams will meet again in the second leg at the same stadium on 12 October.

The top 11 teams from the third round will join the 13 countries for the finals. These are the teams from China, Syria, Iran, Qatar, Japan, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Iraq, Vietnam, Levanon, Australia and Saudi Arabia.
