Phnom Penh: A poll carried out by the travel guide company, roughguide.com, has voted Cambodia as the friendliest country in the world.

Rough Guides asked its Twitter and Facebook followers which country they thought was the friendliest in the world. Everywhere from Albania to Uganda made the list, but Cambodia came out on top. One person who voted told Rough Guides that, “They've been through so much and still have a smile on their faces!"

This is the second year in a row that the kingdom has won “the friendliest country in the world” accolade, although in 2020 it was by the website, My International Movers’. More recently, a survey by Expat Insider and published by InterNations put Cambodia in 4th place in its 2021 list of the globe’s top ten countries “with the friendliest attitudes towards foreign residents”. Virtually all respondents, 96%, rated the levels of intimacy and friendly attitudes as “positive”, compared to a global average of 70%.
