Ministry of information Supports Government's Move for Top Leaders' Only Khmer Nationality

Phnom Penh: Minister of information Mr. Khieu Kanharith has supported the original idea of the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Samdech Techo Hun Sen, who wanted to amend the Constitution to make the top leaders only have Khmer nationality.

Khieu Kanharith has stated on Thursday that the amendment of the Constitution and other laws requires that the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and the President of the Constitutional Council have "one Khmer nationality".

He said, "The indication and firm stance of Samdech Techo Prime Minister is the patriotic position of the motherland of Cambodia in adhering to loyalty to the nation, leading the country with the great national interest as well as against external interference Internal of Cambodia. leadership and the spirit of high responsibility of national leaders for the future destiny of the nation and its people."

On Wednesday morning, Prime Minister Hun Sen has ordered the Minister of Justice to draft a law amending the Constitution, which requires those in charge of the country to have only one Khmer nationality in order to show loyalty to the nation and avoid interference from abroad.
