Ministries Support PM Decision on Leader’s Only Khmer Nationality

The Minister of Labor and Vocational training has announced support for Prime Minister Hun Sen’s initiative to amend the relevant law to make the top leaders of the nation have only one nationality - Khmer nationality. MLVT Minister, Ith Samheng, says they support the move with deep patriotic ideals of the Prime Minister.

The statement says, “This noble initiative is a guarantee, both legal and political, for the senior dignitaries who hold the leadership positions of the four top institutions of the nation enshrined in the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The nation and the motherland of Cambodia, to lead the country by putting the national interest as a whole, as well as to resist outside interference in the internal affairs of the national leadership of Cambodia.”

In addition, the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications also shared the same sentiment. The Minister, Chea Vandeth, says the President of the Senate, the President of the National Assembly, the Prime Minister and the President of the Constitutional Council of the Kingdom of Cambodia must be the only Cambodian dignitaries.
