Sons of PM Express Disappointment on “The Guardian” Report Against their Father

The three sons of Prime Minister Hun Sen – Hun Many, Hun Manet and Hun Manith have expressed disappointment over the report of the “The Guardian” saying that their father is holding a Cypriot passport. The report was published on Sunday, 3 October.

Kampong Speu’s Member of the National Assembly, Hun Many says, “As his own child, I have never heard of my father applying for any nationality other than the Khmer blood that his parents gave him on our precious homeland. On the contrary, what I have learned is that in the past, he had a high regard for Cambodian political figures, regardless of party affiliation or tendency, who were deported to live abroad for whatever reason to return and participate in development in the nation without deciding on nationality conditions.”

Hun Many has added that this must be the right time that the current political status must be pushed to consider taking the condition of nationality in order to determine the top position of national institutions. He stresses, “On the other hand, those who want to participate in the development of the nation and look at the top role may lose their chance but this is also an expression of loyalty to the nation and the people.”

Meanwhile, the commander of the Royal Cambodian Army, Hun Manet says, “As a Cambodian citizen, I would like to support Samdech's statement that the top leaders of the nation should have only one nationality, Khmer.” He has explained that any politician who is determined to be the supreme leader of the nation, who is responsible for the fate and interests of the Khmer nation must dare to sacrifice everything for the cause of the nation and the Cambodian people. That means the foreign nationality must be eradicated, if any.

Another son of the Prime Minister, Hun Manith who is the deputy chief of the Defence Ministry's Intelligence Department also says, "As a Cambodian citizen, I would like to support Samdech Techo's initiative, which states that "the top leaders of the nation must have a single nationality" to protect the interests of the nation.
