Phnom Penh: Cambodia has been warned of flash floods and strong winds until early next week, according to a weather forecast issued on Tuesday morning by the Ministry of Water Resources and Meteorology.

MOWRAM says Phnom Penh and the provinces of Kandal, Svay Rieng, Prey Veng, Kampong Speu, Takeo, Kampong Chhnang, Pursat, Kampong Thom, Siem Reap, Preah Vihear, Oddar Meanchey, Kampong Cham, Thbong Khmum, Koh Kong and Preah Sihanouk would all affected.

MOWRAM has appealed people to be on the alert for possible flash floods in low-lying areas as well as strong winds, as a result of the monsoon and tropical storms in the South China Sea.

Temperature-wise, MOWRAM says they will vary between 21 and 30 degrees for provinces in the central lowland areas, from 19 to 27 degrees in provinces along the Dangrek mountain range and highland areas in the northeast, and between 21 and 27 degrees along the coast.

The worst of the weather is expected over the next 48-72 hours as a storm system moves in from the southeast.
