Border Guards Arrest 12 People Attempting to Cross Thailand

Banteay Meanchey: The 514th Infantry Battalion, in cooperation with the Joint Forces has arrested a total of 12 Cambodians caught illegally crossing into Thailand. The incident was intercepted at Chamkar Kor village, Svay Chek commune in Svay Chek district on Tuesday.

 Commander of the 514th Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Pen Sokun, has said they are working hard to prevent the spread of Covid-19 into the community, especially the Delta virus. He has added that border guards are patrolling the area for 24 hours, taking turns to cooperate with the coalition forces on a regular basis. The recent apprehension of Cambodians trying to cross the border illegally was made possible through the joint forces of the 514th Infantry Battalion and the 51st Infantry Brigade.

Sokun has also confirmed that after detaining the 12, they were educated about the danger of illegally crossing and were sent to O'Bei Chorn area for health examination, especially for Covid-19 testing. Then their final destination will be a quarantine centre before they will be allowed to go back to their respective homes.
