Cambodia’s New Gold Mine Produces the Goods

Mondulkiri: After just three months of operations, Renaissance Minerals (Cambodia) Limited has refined 48 gold bars, equivalent to approximately 555 kilograms of the precious metal, as of 27 September. The gold mine was inaugurated on 21 June and is located in the O' Kvau area of Mondulkiri’s Keo Seima district.

The Director General of the General Department of Mineral Resources in the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Eung Dipola, says the company has exported 34 gold bars, equivalent to 355kgs of gold ore, to Australia. There it will be purified to 99.99% gold. He says the gold mining process is proceeding as planned.

Renaissance Minerals’ gold exploration in the O’ Kvau area is expected to refine 3 tons of gold ore per year over the next eight years. The Kingdom expects to receive $40 million in royalties and taxes from the precious metal for the national budget between now and 2029.
