Tech Titan Google to Block Millions of Phones in Massive Update

INTERNATIONAL: If you have an old mobile phone or an old version of Android, you might need to hurry to get an updated version on Tuesday. Tech titan Google has confirmed on its website that some Android devices will lose access to popular apps. It’s predicted that millions across the globe will be locked out if they don’t change to more modern versions.

The software that is scheduled to be blocked is the Android 2.3 version launched in December 2010, almost eleven years ago. The conglomerate of Google Maps, Gmail, YouTube and Drive says the withdrawing of the 2.3 version is “part of our ongoing efforts to keep our users safe”. The company regularly updates its software to achieve more protection, speed and modernity.
