Labour Ministry Says Factory Workers Must be Tested After Pchum Ben

Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Labour and Vocational Training says all factory workers must be tested for Covid-19 when they return to work after Pchum Ben next week.

The ministry is advising all business owners or directors of factories and enterprises to order enough rapid test kits to test every member of their staff complement. The Ministry says this testing is the responsibility of the employer. Any worker who refuses to comply will be in full violation of the rules of safety and hygiene as stated in Article 83 of the Labour Law and the employer will have every right to fire that employee.

At the same time, all workers must notify the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training through the telegram group "For Workers" (https://t.me/KhmerWorkerChat) in the event their employer does not conduct rapid tests after Pchum Ben.

The Ministry is also advising all workers who go on holiday over Pchum Ben must please adhere to all preventative measures, especially wearing masks, frequent hand washing and maintaining a safe social distance.
