PM Introduces Safe Cambodia Campaign to Attract Tourists

Phnom Penh: Prime Minister Hun Sen has recommended the launch of the "Cambodia Safe" campaign as a strategy to attract domestic and international tourists in the upcoming reopening phase. In the message to celebrate World Tourism Day 2021, the Prime Minister urged the private sector and relevant authorities to cooperate in supporting the preparation of strategic plans to prepare for safe tourism in the future and to participate in the establishment of tourism services, diversify through skills training and develop digital tourism capacity at the grassroots level.

He says, “After the Covid-19 crisis, I feel that tourism trends will be different, with safety and comfort becoming priorities in deciding where to go. In this regard, I would like to encourage and support the launch of the "Cambodia Safe" campaign as a strategy to attract both domestic and international tourists.”

The Prime Minister also urged people to continue participating in the implementation of administrative and health measures to create a solid foundation for the reopening of tourism activities as well as all economic and social activities safely and responsibly.

During the launch of vaccinations for children aged 6-11, the Prime Minister stated that Cambodia is developing a tourism strategy that would allow fully-vaccinated tourists to enter Cambodia, requiring them to quarantine in and around their port of arrival for only seven days, after which they’d be able to travel freely around the country.

According to the plan, Cambodia plans to reopen tourism by the end of 2021.
