Joshua and Usyk Get Ready for Battle

INTERNATIONAL: Heavyweight boxers Anthony Joshua and Oleksandr Usyk have both put in public workouts ahead of their multiple-belt bout in the UK on Saturday. Joshua is putting his WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO heavyweight titles on the line. The title challenge is mandatory after Joshua’s bout with Tyson Fury was called off. Fury had been ordered to fight Deontay Wilder.

31-year-old Joshua doesn’t seem to be letting his diary clashes bother him. He was supposed to be facing WBC champion Tyson Fury in Saudi Arabia this month, but an American arbitrator ruled that Fury first had to have a rematch with Deontay Wilder. The WBO then ordered Joshua to defend his title against Ukranian Usyk.

He’s a tall order. At 34 he’s unbeaten professionally and has stepped up from being the undisputed cruiserweight world champion. He flew into London on Monday. He’ll step into the ring against Joshua at Tottenham Hotspur’s stadium on Saturday. Fury will face Wilder in Las Vegas on 9 October.
