Ultimate Boxing Championship Underway

Phnom Penh: Cambodia’s Ultimate Boxing Championship is underway. The first bouts were staged on Monday, with the country’s boxers preparing for next year’s SEA Games in Vietnam. Boxers have been training hard for the Ultimate Boxing Championship and say they’re confident of winning international competitions. This first week of the Boxing Championship sees a variety of categories being fought out.

The Secretary General of the Cambodia Boxing Federation, Buy Sophoan, believes that public support can help promote and develop the sport in the kingdom. EAC News also spoke to boxer, Chon Prakak, who said he was excited about his match this weekend, even if training had been difficult during the pandemic.

The Cambodian Boxing Federation plans to stage six competitions before the end of November. The second match of the Ultimate Boxing Championship will be held on Sunday at 6pm at the Bodyguard Boxing Club. Due to health measures, the public is not allowed to watch in person, but the match will be streamed live on the Cambodian Boxing Federation’s Facebook page.
