Fisherman’s Son Missing as Storms Lash Preah Sihanouk

Preah Sihanouk: Authorities are searching for a 14-year-old boy off the coast of Preah Sihanouk’s Stung Hav District. He was fishing with his father when their boat capsized in a storm on Tuesday. His 48-year-old father managed to swim to safety. Stung Hav is about 25km northeast of Sihanoukville.

Elsewhere in the area, there has been widespread flooding as a result of the storm. Preah Sihanouk Provincial Police say a Sihanoukville Special Intervention Force, led by Lieutenant-Colonel Chhe Saliden and Deputy Special Intervention Inspector, Assistant Colonel Keo Roeun, led a task force on Tuesday to rescue those affected.

No injuries have been reported, but people, their motos and other belongings have been taken to higher ground. The weather office says more storms will sweep across the Kingdom in the coming days.
