Phnom Penh Approves Over 200 Schools for Reopening

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh Capital Administration has approved the reopening of 227 schools in the capital after the evaluation conducted together with the Ministry of Education which started last week. These are the schools in the secondary level from 68 public institutions and 158 from private institutions. Phnom Penh administration says these schools have already been disinfected, ready to welcome back the students. Most of the public institutions will reopen on Wednesday while private institutions have their own reopening dates.

However, Phnom Penh Capital Administration clarifies that only vaccinated children and teachers are allowed for the face-to-face classes. Those who are unvaccinated, especially due to illnesses, are required to stay at home for online learning. The administration has also reported that after conducting rapid tests to 10,419 teachers, only 24 tested positive for Covid-19. All of them were reported asymptomatic. The Department of Education, Youth and Sports of Phnom Penh has also cooperated with the Department of Health of Phnom Penh Capital Administration to send them to receive treatment from a team of specialized doctors even though they are only mild cases.
