Chinese Experts to Check Cambodia’s National Road No. 3 for Repair

Phnom Penh: China’s Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has informed that they will send experts to check Cambodia’s National Road Number 3 covering from Kampot to Veal Renh. The road connects to National Road Number 4. Yi has made the announcement on Monday’s breakfast meeting headed by the Co-Chairman of the Cambodia-China Intergovernmental Coordinating Committee, Hor Namhong and Cambodian Foreign Minister Prak Sokhon.

Minister of Public Works and Transport, Minister Sun Chanthol, has elaborated that 15 out of 20 kilometres of the National Road 3 have already been damaged due to week foundation and needs to be repaired. He said the damaged 15 kilometers of the road must be excavated and be reinforced with concrete. He provided an estimated amount of $60 million budget for the road repair. This made Chinese Minister Yi to announce that they will send specialists to evaluate the damaged road to prepare for a repair.

In addition, the Chinese Foreign Minister has also urged to expedite the construction of National Road 71C in the kingdom. The National Road 71C is 114 kilometres long connecting the provinces of Tbong Khmum to Kampong Cham funded by the Chinse government through a loan costing over $100 million.
