Chinese Foreign Minister Arrives in Kingdom as Part of 5-Day SE Asia Tour

Phnom Penh: Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, has arrived in Cambodia for a two-day visit. He flew in from Vietnam and will leave for Singapore late on Monday. He’s in the region until Wednesday, shoring up bilateral ties and deepening cooperation with the region.

He meets with his Cambodian counterpart, Prak Sokhonn, on Sunday. According to a statement released to the media, various aspects of bilateral cooperation such as the fight against Covid-19, trade and investment, education, security and national defence, as well as regional and international issues of common interest and concern will be discussed. During the meeting, the two Foreign Ministers will also hold a media briefing.

68-year-old Yi is also expected to pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen before the pair preside over the official handover of the Morodok Techo National Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. The complex is a gift from the People’s Republic of China.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, on Monday Yi will have a working breakfast with Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong and will sign a number of bilateral agreements with the Prime Minister before he leaves for Singapore.
