Phnom Penh: The Ministry of Health has warned the public not to buy M Extra Supplement. It says that the product is a counterfeit drug that contains Sildenafil which causes harm to human body. Sildenafil is used to treat male erectile dysfunction. The health ministry has banned the imports and the distribution of this supplement in the Cambodian market.
The Ministry says, “According to the Law Amending the Law on the Administration of Medicines, the new ‘M Extra’ health supplement product that is being advertised on Facebook pages and in other online sites is considered as a counterfeit drug”. Capital and provincial health departments have already been instructed to investigate and recall the counterfeit products being sold online and in the market.
The health ministry has added that if any Facebook account holder and any person continues to import, distribute and advertise the above counterfeit drugs, they will be punished under the Law on the Amendment of the Law on Drug Administration. Violator will face imprisonment from five to 10 years and a fine of around $5,000 to $12,000.
